CTP / CTM pack disassembly: organising the process
Choose equipment and stations around pack structure and connections.
Start with the pack structure
Line configuration depends on connections, adhesives, cooling-plate structure and target outputs. Recovering modules, separating cells and material recycling require different equipment and processes.
Connect pre-treatment and disassembly
The company reference process connects identification and pre-treatment, cover and component removal, weld processing, cooling-plate removal, and cell testing and sorting. Dedicated machines, robotic cells and manual stations are selected for the pack structure and project.
Cooling-plate cutting and removal
Cooling-plate position, connections and adhesive condition affect the disassembly process. Cutting equipment and subsequent separation stations are configured for the pack structure and linked with weld processing and manual cleaning.
Route materials after testing
After testing, modules are routed according to project requirements. Those suitable for repurposing proceed to subsequent reuse stages; those requiring further disassembly move to the next station. Cell identification, voltage and internal-resistance testing, weld milling and tray loading can follow cell separation.
Plan transport and fixtures together
Fixture trolleys, conveyors and AGVs affect station layout and material transfer. Share site dimensions, logistics interfaces, feedstock types and planned cycle times when defining the line.
How adhesives and cooling structures affect the route
Adhesive placement and condition, together with cooling-plate connections, affect clamping, cutting and separation. Optional cold- or heat-assisted separation are alternative process branches requiring feedstock and structure assessment, rather than consecutive steps for every pack.
From pack identity to cell records
Traceability can link pack, BMS, module and cell IDs to stations, test results and material routes. Define readable identifiers, supplementary coding, data fields and exports first. Exporting records and automatically integrating with an external platform are separate functions.
Assessment beyond test-based grading
Voltage and internal resistance are test metrics; alone they do not establish suitability for a repurposed product. Origin, condition, further assessment and intended-use requirements determine whether material proceeds to evaluation, further disassembly or recycling.
Relating enquiry information to the site
Alongside pack specifications, provide building dimensions and clear height, logistics, floor loading, utilities and shifts. Station count, thermal-process buffers, staffing and material transfer must be assessed together before defining the line cycle time.
